The history of the Aero Club d'Italia begins in the early 20th century, a time when the dream of flight was capturing imaginations across Europe and beyond. In 1904, the first Italian aeronautical society was founded in Milan, marking the beginning of a national movement dedicated to promoting aviation. Just a year later, Italy became one of the founding members of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), joining forces with other pioneering nations to set global standards in flight.
Throughout these formative years, new associations, aerodromes, and flying clubs emerged across the country, laying the groundwork for a shared passion that united civilians, enthusiasts, and institutions. This momentum led to the official founding of the Aero Club d’Italia on November 22, 1911 — a milestone that brought together representatives from the Ministry of War, the Navy, and the growing aeronautical community.
Since then, the Aero Club d’Italia has served as the national authority for air sports and general aviation, proudly representing Italy within the FAI and promoting the spirit of flight across generations.

World Rally Flying Championship is a unique air sport that puts precision, navigation, and teamwork to the test. Each flight is a coordinated effort between pilot and navigator, who must follow a carefully plotted route based on clues revealed just minutes before takeoff. Along the way, crews identify landmarks from the air, verify aerial photographs, and stick to split-second timing — all while staying focused and composed.
More than a race, it’s a strategic challenge that sharpens flying skills and showcases true aerial discipline.
